Hause Riggs, Seat Sandal, Coast to Coast
Hause Riggs marks the start of the rocky ascent to Hause Gap, the rocky pass between Seat Sandal and Fairfield, leading to Grisedale Tarn. As the path winds north its passes around the foot of the steep sided cliffs of Gavel. As it does so Hause Moss, the dried up bed of a lake, can be seen to the right, at the foot of Fairfield. The area below Hause Riggs, on a balmy sunny day, is alive with sheep, birds and insects, and is a lovely place to idle away some time. From Hause Riggs one can see a waterfall on the lower slopes of Fairfield, which is one of the main head waters for Tongue Gill.
