Boredale Hause

Boredale Hause is a grassed plateau on the Coast to Coast path being part of Patterdale Common and standing at the head of Boredale Valley. Here, the path lies between Place Fell and the twin Angletarn Pikes. There are many footpaths joining; from Boredale, the High Dodd-Place Fell ridge walk, Patterdale, Hartsop, Bannerdale and High Street.

The Coast to Coast path from the village of Patterdale, first passes through the small but attractive hamlet of Rooking. The path to the Hause, which has been recently improved, stretches between ferns for most of its journey, with attractive views over to Hartsop Dodd and Brothers Water.

An unusual sight awaits Coast to Coast walkers once reaching Boredale Hause, as unexpectedly there are two water hydrants side by side, which are connected to a trunk of underground pipes leading down the Boredale Valley.

Another unusual sight is the remains of Boredale Chapel (known as Chapel in the Hause), not much more than an outline of stones now. The chapel once served the people of both Patterdale and Martindale (via Bannerdale).
