Gunnerside Bottoms - Swaledale - Coast to Coast

Gunnerside Bottoms, Swaledale, Coast to Coast

Gunnerside Bottoms

Gunnerside Bottoms is the name given to the Swaledale valley below Gunnerside, the wide, flat alluvial plain through which the River Swale flows bounded by the Gunnerside Beck to the west, the River Swale to the South and the B6270 Gunnerside to Healaugh road to the north. The River Swale loops up to meet the road to form the eastern boundary.

The low level route of the Coast to Coast path passes through Gunnerside but takes the path on the opposite side of the road to Gunnerside Bottoms, leading steeply uphill to Stoney Gill Quarry, Little Rowleth Wood and Great Rowleth Wood
